This article explains how to discharge a patient with a discharge code.
Entering a Discharge Code
To discharge a patient with a discharge code, simply enter a discharge code during the regular charge entry process. Codes that trigger a discharge may include: 99238,99239,99315,99316,99317,99217,99234,99235,99236,99435,88888,99999,00000,EXP,SO, and DC.
You can also discharge a patient by swiping the patient to the left, tapping the More button, and choosing Discharge Patient from the menu. You may select a discharge code, or leave the code field blank.
Please speak to Customer Support (888-253-8813) to change or add your practice's discharge codes. When you submit your charges for the patient and a discharge code is included, the patient will also be removed from your device.
A new option is available when deleting or discharging patients that will allow you to choose to hold the patient on the list for 24 hours, and turn the color code circle to the left of the patient name black. This serves as a notification to all providers that the patient will drop off the list within 24 hours, so they can enter any charges that are missing. If you would like to activate this feature, please contact Support at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 888-253-8813, Option 2.
1. Your entire patient list is always searchable from your device. Removing a patient from your device list does not delete the patient from your database.
2. Your account can be configured so that when you remove a patient from your device a discharge is triggered. Please ask Customer Support for assistance.
